About eBikesHQ

Updated

eBikesHQ helps you understand e-bike specifications and plan decisions with sources you can check. It is run by Alex Idler, an engineer writing under a pen name in the Pacific Northwest.

From questions to useful answers

The site began with practical questions about electric bicycles: what the battery numbers mean, how far a route might be, what ownership costs include and which limits matter when carrying a bicycle. Today it brings guides, planning tools and source-labelled records together so readers can move from an explanation to the information needed for their own decision.

Alex is considering an e-bike for family trips and everyday errands. The site is research-led: Alex does not currently own or ride an e-bike, and the current articles are labelled Researched. A future ride report or reader measurement will identify the actual experience and method instead of being folded into a general product recommendation.

How the site can help

The planning tools make assumptions visible and let you change them. Their outputs describe the inputs you entered; they do not inspect your bicycle, approve equipment compatibility or establish permission from a road or trail authority. Use the relevant instructions and local rules for decisions those tools cannot answer.

Records with visible evidence

The bike browser publishes only configurations that pass the project’s evidence checks. Records identify market and trim where the sources establish them. Unresolved candidate records stay private. Missing values remain unavailable rather than becoming zero, and a manufacturer’s specification is identified as such.

Comparison guides follow the same principle. A rack’s limit for one bicycle, its combined bicycle limit and a vehicle’s permitted carrier load are separate checks. A battery’s stated capacity does not by itself predict a particular trip. Dates and definitions make those comparisons useful.

How the work is funded

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Some links may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, eBikesHQ may receive compensation without increasing your price. This static site does not run display advertising.

Tools, illustrations and editorial responsibility

Alex develops the site and planning tools with AI assistance. Formulas and site interactions are checked with automated tests and browser verification. GPT illustrations explain concepts and are labelled as illustrations; they are not evidence of product testing. Precise quantities appear in accessible text, tables or native diagrams.

Sources, dates and corrections

We prioritize manufacturer documents for product facts and current authorities for rules. We compare configuration and date before resolving a disagreement. An article’s original publication date is preserved; its update date reflects a substantive review rather than a site rebuild.

Read the research and corrections policy for the editorial method. Corrections are checked against their source before supported facts are changed. The site’s contact and newsletter delivery setup is still being completed; no email subscription is currently collected here. You can follow new guides through the RSS feed.
